About the Client 🎵

Today, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra is the largest Massachusetts symphony outside of Boston. It consists of over 80 musicians from the NE region of the United States and Canada, and holds many performances in a given season – as either the full orchestra or in ensemble formats.

Client Needs ✏️

Embracing forward-thinking industry trends, the SSO was in need of a copywriter for their concert program notes. The new brand voice required very specific perimeters:

  1. Highly researched and up to date on current findings in music history.
  2. Approachable, relatable, and easy to understand.
  3. Welcoming to both an older generation of music lovers as well as a younger audience.



During their calendar season, the SSO performs one concert a month, so it was essential all copy was timely, and ready to publish with very little editing.
