OFGEM: Be An Energy Shopper Campaign
The Challenge: At the time, OFGEM faced a significant public awareness problem: many people didn’t know they could switch energy suppliers to save money. The organisation needed a compelling way to communicate this key message while maintaining its official, trustworthy brand identity.
My approach: I decided to make a complex, dull topic relatable. I developed a concept centered on the metaphor of a romantic breakup. The humorous, surprising narrative hold the audience's attention long enough to deliver a clear and memorable message. I positioned the message in a relatable, light‑hearted frame without undermining OFGEM’s authority.
My role: I served as the Creative Lead handling the whole production process from conception to final delivery.
As a Writer/Director, I wrote a script that used humour to convey the message looking through "dating" profiles of energy suppliers.
As the Art Director, I collaborated with the team to develop a visual world that supported the narrative. We chose a simple, relatable kitchen setting to make the experience feel universal and approachable, avoiding any overly stylised or commercial look that would clash with OFGEM's brand.
I supervised the post-production process, ensuring the editing, the colour correction, and the music selection were aligned with the campaign emotional arc.
The Outcome: The campaign consisted of a 30 - second video along with cutdowns of 15 seconds and 6 seconds. The campaign simplified a complex message into a relatable story, making energy switching feel accessible and human.
