Welcome to my travel blog, where I’ll be taking you on a journey to Mandarmani, a hidden gem of a beach destination in India. If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the lookout for unique and off-the-beaten-path travel experiences, and Mandarmani fits the bill perfectly.
Located in the state of West Bengal, Mandarmani is a serene beach town that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re a nature lover, an adventure seeker, or just looking to unwind and relax by the beach, Mandarmani has got you covered.
But why is it still relatively unknown? Perhaps because it’s a bit of a hidden treasure, waiting to be discovered by intrepid travelers like us. So pack your bags, grab your sunscreen, and let’s set off on an adventure to uncover the beauty of Mandarmani together.
Why you should visit Mandarmani
Give me a moment to explain why Mandarmani ought to be at the top of your list of destinations to see.
The beaches of Mandarmani are breathtaking, to start with. Just picture vast expanses of white sand beaches, surrounded by glistening waters, and swaying palms. It’s the kind of place that rapidly gives you a sense of quiet and tranquility.
Nevertheless, Mandarmani is worth a visit for more reasons than just its beaches. The town has a peaceful, laid-back vibe that is perfect for a getaway.
Another great thing about Mandarmani is the seafood. As a coastal town, it’s no surprise that Mandarmani has some of the freshest and most delicious seafood around. Make sure you try out some of the local specialties, like prawn curry or fish fry; your taste buds will thank you.
But perhaps the best thing about Mandarmani is that it’s still relatively undiscovered by tourists. You won’t find the crowds and chaos that you might encounter in other popular beach destinations in India. Instead, you can enjoy a peaceful and authentic beach experience.
How to reach Mandarmani from Kolkata
If you’re planning to travel to Mandarmani from Kolkata, there are a few ways to get there. The easiest and most convenient way is by car or taxi, which will take you around 3-4 hours to reach the destination.
By Car or Taxi:
It is approximately 172.5 kilometers from Kolkata to Mandarmani. To start your journey, you can take the NH16 and NH116B highways from Kolkata. You will cross the city in an hour and reach the paddy fields and village routes in no time. The view is always breathtaking, and these types of road trips are usually rejuvenating.
By Bus:
You can travel by bus or rail if you don’t want to drive or hail a cab. Numerous bus companies provide service between Kolkata and Digha. A Kolkata Mandarmani Volvo AC Sleeper Bus can be reserved online using the MakeMyTrip or RedBus applications. These days, buses offer a lot of conveniences, including Wi-Fi, charging stations, water bottles, blankets, and other comforts.
By Train:
Howrah and Digha are also connected by train; take the Tamrolipta Express, which leaves Howrah every day at 6:50 a.m. and arrives in Digha at 10:15 p.m. The Kandari Express is another daily train. It arrives at 5:50 p.m. and departs at 2:25 p.m., respectively.
There are various ways to go to Mandarmani from Kolkata, and they are all pretty simple. Just remember to plan your trip, especially if you’re going during the busiest time of year, and drive safely!
My Personal Road Trip Experience with Family:
We had our car and it was a full family trip and my dad was in the driver’s seat. We started at morning 10 am and we reached our destination by 2 pm. We had our breakfast at New Ghosh Restaurant near Bagnan. At around 1 pm we stopped to have coconut water. It was cooling and refreshing. Overall, It was a very relaxing and breathtaking road trip that we enjoyed.

Sea View from the Sun City Beach Resort Balcony
We went to Mandarmani in January 2023 and I booked this resort in November 2022. I always plan my itinerary for at least 2 to 3 months before visiting any place. I booked 2 sea facing double bedded rooms with a balcony. I was charged around Rs.2500 via Agoda.com. It was very cheap for me to have the booking at this price and was very happy. The resort is so beautiful from the outside. It’s wonderful. If you are booking directly at the resort, the same room is priced at around Rs.9000 per day.
I will write about Sun City Beach Resort in greater detail in my next blog. I will give you my honest review. So I am ending this blog here for now. Please do not forget to subscribe to my blog.
