Redesigning the VP Player Dashboard for Streamlined Video Management

The existing VP Player dashboard, while functional, presented several user experience roadblocks that hindered efficient video management workflows. Here's how it impacted users:

Limited Content Visibility: Users were unable to easily see recently uploaded audio content or identify ongoing live streams within the dashboard. This made it difficult to stay updated on their evolving video and audio library.

I analyzed user behavior data within the VP Player platform to identify frequently accessed features and information points. Researched how leading video management platforms present key metrics and functionalities within their dashboards. Based on these insights, the VP Player dashboard was redesigned with the following key solutions:

Comprehensive Content Visibility: The redesigned dashboard now prominently displays sections for both video and audio content. This allows users to easily see the latest uploaded audio files and identify ongoing live streams directly from the dashboard.

Streamlined Upload Functionality: A dedicated upload feature was integrated into the dashboard. Users can now conveniently upload new video, audio, podcast and livestream content directly from the dashboard, eliminating the need to navigate to another location within the platform.

We looked closely at how people use VP Player and what other video platforms offer. This helped us understand what mattered most to VP Player users for managing their videos. Inspiration in JW Player, Vimeo

This project demonstrates the importance of user-centered design in optimizing video management platforms. By prioritizing user needs, addressing limitations in content visibility and upload functionality, the redesigned VP Player dashboard empowers content creators and managers to manage their video, audio, podcast and livestream libraries effectively.
