Casa Mathilda is a boutique Bed & Breakfast website created for a sustainable accommodation in Barcelona’s elegant Eixample district. The website needed to capture the warmth and character of the property while communicating its rooms, hospitality, location, sustainability initiatives, and distinctive guest experience.
I worked on the WordPress website design and development, focusing on creating a refined digital experience that feels as welcoming and personal as the hotel itself. Rather than relying on a conventional hotel layout, the website uses storytelling, imagery, carefully structured content, and clear navigation to give prospective guests a sense of what staying at Casa Mathilda feels like before they arrive.
As a WordPress Developer, I focused on building a responsive and scalable website that allows visitors to easily explore the accommodation, discover the different room types, learn about the hotel, explore its location, and understand the property's sustainability commitment. The site presents terrace-facing, street-facing, and interior rooms while also providing practical information about the hotel's facilities and guest services.
From a WordPress Designer perspective, the emphasis was on creating an elegant visual hierarchy that complements the character of the property. The design balances imagery, typography, whitespace, and structured content to create a calm and welcoming browsing experience rather than making the website feel like a generic accommodation listing.
A major part of the project was UI/UX design and storytelling. Casa Mathilda has a strong personal identity, built around hospitality, cultural exchange, sustainability, and the feeling of being welcomed into a home. I structured the website so these qualities come through naturally, allowing visitors to discover the story behind the property alongside practical information about their stay.
The responsive web design was carefully considered across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices, ensuring that room information, imagery, navigation, contact details, and important guest information remain easy to access regardless of screen size.
I also focused on creating an SEO-friendly WordPress structure, with clearly organized pages covering the hotel, rooms, location, sustainability, and other important aspects of the guest experience. The location page, for example, communicates Casa Mathilda's proximity to Passeig de Gràcia, La Pedrera, and the Sagrada Familia while providing useful transportation information for arriving guests.
Sustainability was another important part of the website experience. Casa Mathilda highlights initiatives including reduced water and energy consumption, eco-friendly amenities, local breakfast products, reusable bottles, recycling, energy-efficient lighting, and sustainable cleaning practices. I helped present this information in a way that makes the hotel's values easy for environmentally conscious travelers to discover.
The website also incorporates conversion-focused website design, guiding visitors from discovering the property and its story toward exploring rooms, learning about the location, contacting the hotel, and ultimately considering a stay. Guest testimonials and detailed information about the hotel's services further strengthen the experience and help potential guests make informed decisions.
Overall, this project demonstrates my experience with WordPress website development, WordPress website design, responsive web design, UI/UX design, hospitality website design, hotel website development, SEO-friendly WordPress development, conversion-focused design, content structure, and visual storytelling.
The final result is a warm, elegant, and informative digital experience that reflects Casa Mathilda's personality while making it easier for travelers to discover the property, understand its values, explore the accommodation, and imagine themselves staying there.
