Project Overview

This project was an intensive, practice-focused assignment I undertook at Design University. Spanning two months, it served as a capstone for applying theoretical knowledge to a real-world application, encapsulating the essence of my educational experience in mobile app design.
Project Scope: IOS Mobile App Design in Figma.

Design Goals

Create a user-friendly app that fosters transparent communication between parents and daycare staff, giving parents peace of mind and real-time insights into their child’s daily experiences.

Design Approach

Starting with Empathy: Understanding the Pain Points
The design process began with gathering insights directly from parents and daycare staff through interviews and surveys. Their input revealed key concerns: safety, communication gaps, and a desire for more involvement in their children’s daily activities. These insights became the cornerstones of the app’s functionality.
Crafting the Vision: From Wireframes to Prototypes
The process began with laying out the architecture. I sketched initial wireframes, planning the structure and flow that would become the backbone of our interactive app. Each screen was thoughtfully considered, from registration to daily updates, ensuring that the journey from one function to another was seamless and intuitive.

Notifications, Splash Screen, Loading Patterns, Access screens
I designed a variety of screen patterns to ensure a cohesive user experience. These included detailed designs for:
notifications, ensuring timely updates and alerts;
a welcoming Splash Screen for a strong first impression;
seamless Loading Patterns to enhance user wait times;
and clear Access Patterns to ensure straightforward and secure user interactions.
Each pattern was crafted with the specific goal of creating an intuitive and engaging interface that meets the diverse needs of our users.
Bringing the Experience to Life: Interactive Prototypes
To truly understand the impact of my designs, I transitioned from static images to an interactive prototype. This prototype was built to simulate real-world usage, allowing us to see, feel, and refine the user experience. It enabled stakeholders to navigate through the app, experiencing firsthand how parents and daycare providers would interact with the features, from logging in to receiving notifications about their child’s day.

Outcome

As I reflect on the journey of creating InCare, it stands as a testament to the power of empathetic and user-focused design. The app has not just simplified the logistical aspects of daycare management but has also provided a platform that supports emotional connections, ensuring parents are always close, no matter the distance. This project was a beautiful blend of technology, empathy, and design, aiming to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families.
