Summer to Fall: 3 Transitional Style Tips and Trends

As summer comes to an end, it's time to start thinking about transitioning our wardrobes to prepare for the fall season. While Spring is the time of rebirth and bloom in the environment ahead of Summer's playful warmth, Fall is the oh-so righteous rebirth of fashion. As we retire our daily-worn athleisure, as it is all we can bare to wear in the scorching August heat, we begin to incorporate some of the year's chicest styles, color stories, textures and patterns that September inspires.
Transitional weather can be difficult to navigate. Fall mornings bring crisp and cool breezes bringing to the ground the first fallen, color-turned leaves that crunch under your knee-high leather boot that you've just dug out of your closet for the first time in months. While some afternoons can reach peak heat, causing you to ditch your well-layered, trench coat revealing your go-to sweater vest and white tee combo. Relying on a solid foundation of wardrobe essentials and light outerwear is the key to surviving the temperamental weather of September and October.

Outerwear

Trench coats: Trench coats are timeless and look great on everyone. They’re perfect for those in-between seasons when it’s not too cold but still a bit chilly. A neutral-colored trench can be perfectly layered over any fall outfit to elevate the look while remaining functional.
Lightweight, oversized blazers: Oversized blazers have been trending for quite a while now and they’re not going away anytime soon. A lightweight, oversized blazer paired with jeans or trousers is a perfect way to achieve a chic, effortless look. They also make for the perfect day-to-night, work-to-play, sophisticated and fun piece of outerwear that will be a staple in your wardrobe for seasons to come.
Leather jackets: A fall favorite, leather jackets are an essential piece for the fall season. Goes with everything, adds texture, can be layered, need I say more?

Footwear

Ballet flats: We saw a sneak peak of this trend last year and throughout the summer, so I feel confident in saying that ballet flats are here to stay. For those days when it’s not quite cold enough for boots, ballet flats look great with cropped pants, skirts and dresses. In addition, Mary Janes are making a comeback as well, providing the same vibe, tying outfits together and looking sleek.
Sling-back heels: For a slightly more elevated look, sling-backs are on the rise giving shape and elegant silhouettes. Best for work or a night out with pants, skirts and dresses.

Tailored Essentials

Suit vests: Suit vests are no longer just for the office. They can be dressed up or down and are a great way to add a touch of sophistication to your outfit.
Don't sleep on 3-piece suits. They're all the rage in the business world and can be deconstructed for your next date, girls night out, concert or chill day-off.
Fall fashion is all about layering and playing with different textures and styles. Incorporating these staple pieces into your wardrobe will ensure you look stylish and on-trend throughout the season, while still being comfortable and functional. Happy shopping!
