Some people are unimaginably wicked when it comes to helping those in need.

On the contrary, some people are unimaginably kind in all aspects of life.

I learned this lesson in a way I never expected — through the actions of a hungry boy.

It was a Sunday evening. I had just gone to a mall a couple of miles away from my home. I needed to get some groceries and just enjoy the fresh air outside.

When I got to the mall, as you can imagine, it was crowded because it was Sunday.

Looking around, I saw families, couples, fiancés and fiancées, boyfriends and girlfriends, and even little children who had come out alone, hoping to find strangers willing to buy them food or groceries.

I grabbed a shopping cart and walked slowly around the mall, staring at things I wished I could afford. Finally, I picked up a few items — the exact groceries I needed.

As I headed to the counter, I glanced one last time at the things I wished I could purchase. I paid, received my receipt, and walked toward the exit.

While walking to the bus stop, a boy around 12 to 14 years old approached me.

“Brother, please come and buy food for me. I’m hungry,” he said.

At that moment, something inside me shifted. I felt an overwhelming sense of compassion for this child. Without thinking twice, I agreed to buy him food.

We walked to a food vendor together, and he asked for rice. It was served just the way he wanted. But then, something unexpected happened — something that left me speechless.

As soon as his plate was placed in front of him, the boy turned around and called two of his friends to join him.

I stood there, watching in awe.

This boy, who had nothing, chose to share the little he was given without hesitation.

Right then, something inside me stirred. His act of kindness moved me so deeply that I felt compelled to do more. Without a second thought, I bought even more food for him and his friends.

At that moment, I realized something powerful — kindness isn’t about how much you have; it’s about what you’re willing to give.

That boy taught me a lesson I will never forget: no matter the circumstance, always show kindness.

I’m sure you’ll agree that not many people — whether children or adults — would have done what he did.

Yet, in a world where selfishness often prevails, this child reminded me that unimaginable kindness still exists.

Because of him, I’ve promised myself that I will always show kindness — to strangers, friends, families, colleagues, acquaintances, and even animals.

And I pray that the Lord will guide me to extend kindness to those who truly deserve it.
