Number Plate Detection (NPD) is an advanced image intelligence technology that identifies and processes vehicle registration plates using optical character recognition (OCR). This system captures images or video frames of vehicles, extracts the license plate information, and converts it into structured text data.
Beyond simply recognizing number plates, NPD systems can also gather additional details such as the date and time of detection, the vehicle’s make, model, and color, as well as behavioral patterns like duration of presence, movement direction, and driving behavior.
