The Arena - Speed Building Challenge” Website for Josh Loh

When Fri3nds Agency first reconnected with Josh Loh, we were instantly captivated by his journey. An accomplished UX designer with a rich background in engineering consulting, Josh transitioned from crunching numbers in the mining and building industries to embracing his creative passions. His story isn’t just about a career shift; it’s about merging analytical prowess with a love for human-centric design. Josh’s experiences—from open pit mines in Australia to high-rise towers in Vancouver—have all funneled into his unique approach to UX design.
Now at the helm of “The Arena - Speed Building Challenge”, Josh curates an event that brings together the brightest talents in the Webflow community. This isn’t just any event; it’s a high-octane competition where designers and developers push the boundaries of what’s possible with Webflow. With participants, hosts, and sponsors from all over, Josh needed a digital platform marketing campaign that matched the event’s dynamism and innovation for its inaugural launch. Compelling Event
Josh approached us with a clear mission: create a slick, cool website for The Arena that could be built swiftly without compromising on creativity or functionality and develop a marketing campaign to launch the newly rebranded competition. After Webflow decided to step back from hosting the Speed Building Challenge, Josh took the reins to continue the event’s legacy. He was juggling design, event organization, coordinating with participants and sponsors—all while needing a website that could not only inform but also excite potential attendees.
He envisioned a platform that showcased matches, schedules, prizes, sponsors, and all relevant event details. More importantly, he wanted the site to reflect the limitless design potential of Webflow itself. Recognizing the magnitude of the task and the tight timeline, Josh looked to us to bring this vision to life.  Simultaneously, we worked with Josh to develop a marketing campaign that would  sustain the excitement and legacy of the original “Speed Build Challenge”, while seamlessly shifting the audience’s attention to the newly rebranded  competition.
The Process
Collaborating closely with Josh’s team and the talented designers from Benten, we dove headfirst into the project. They provided a Figma design with brief animation instructions, intentionally leaving room for our creative input. This trust in our creativity was both empowering and exciting. We brainstormed ways to infuse dynamic animations and interactive elements that would make the site not just informative but also engaging. We also worked closely with Josh Loh to fully understand the objectives and scope of the marketing campaign for the newly rebranded virtual competition. Together, we outlined key goals and success metrics to ensure a seamless and impactful launch.
Executing the development in just a few days was no small feat. Our team worked around the clock, ensuring that every detail was polished. After an intensive round of quality assurance, we ironed out the kinks and prepared for launch. Fri3nds crafted a campaign to build awareness, generate excitement, and sustain engagement for The Arena. Key partnerships with players, sponsors, and influencers boosted reach, while targeted social media and email initiatives launched four weeks prior maximized audience impact. The site went live seamlessly, aligning perfectly with the event’s promotional schedule and allowing for an effective marketing campaign to kick off.
The Outcome
The final product was an interactive, dynamic website that truly captured the essence of “The Arena”. Visitors could explore match lineups, view results, meet hosts and guests, check schedules, and dive into detailed prize and sponsor information. We included downloadable assets so users could practice and even emulate the competition themselves, fostering a deeper connection with the event.
One of the standout features was a real-time interaction system during the live streams. Users could submit “last minute client requests,” adding an unpredictable twist to the competition and engaging the audience in a unique way. To facilitate this, we integrated the site with Outseta to capture emails, building a valuable mailing list for future outreach. This not only enhanced user engagement but also expanded the event’s community.
The marketing campaign drove impressive engagement, with over 1K visits, 130+ new subscribers, up to 198 live viewers per match, 9.4K total views, and a 15% increase in social media followers. E-marketing benchmarks were also set with a 63% open rate and 11% CTR, both outperforming industry averages.
The Impact
Our collaboration lifted a significant weight off Josh’s shoulders. By entrusting us with the website development, he could focus on orchestrating the event’s many other facets—design coordination, participant logistics, sponsor relationships, and more. The synergy between our teams made the entire process smooth, enjoyable, and efficient.
The website received overwhelming positive feedback from both the client and the Webflow community. It played a crucial role in amplifying the event’s popularity and ensuring it reached the wide audience Josh was aiming for. For us, working on this project was not just about delivering a website; it was about contributing to a flagship event in the Webflow world. It opened doors for future collaborations and allowed us to connect with key personalities who shape the Webflow ecosystem.
This journey with Josh and “The Arena - Speed Building Challenge” was more than a project—it was a partnership that blended creativity, technical expertise, and a shared passion for innovative design. We’re proud to have played a role in bringing this exciting event to life and look forward to future collaborations that push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Fri3nds Agency was instrumental in launching The Arena, helping me transition from Webflow to building my brand from scratch. They delivered an amazing website, executed a seamless marketing strategy, and provided unwavering support with professionalism and heart, allowing me to focus on bringing my vision to life, said Josh Loh.
