Clyde.ai (which later became BestCreditCard.com after it was acquired) was a platform that let users find the best credit card to help them maximize cashback and rewards, based on their spending history
The Start ✨
I was hired to build this project by Thomas Cecil having worked with him in his previous startup (Orchard Systems)
The goal, right from the beginning, was to get this up and running with the planned features within the estimated time and budget.
At a high level, this needed to be built to serve millions of users but it also needed to be built in a way such that it could be maintained easily by a different set of different set of developers after the initial development.
The Stats 💯
Timeline: 4-6 months?
Deliverables:
Frontend based on the reference designs provided
Statically built but SEO friendly frontend that could be served from a CDN
A scalable backend that could support millions of users without costing an arm an a leg upfront
CI/CD setup such that new versions of the site could get deployed right after any content update by non-technical folks. A CMS was used to maintain the content
An authentication system to allow users to register and view personalized recommendations
Integration with Plaid to fetch the users' spending details in order to build out the recommendation engine
