The goal of the Shyft project was to revolutionise healthcare staffing for the NHS by creating a smart, scalable platform for clinician-first recruitment and shift management. The challenge was to address the root problems of NHS staffing fragmented legacy systems, high admin burden, and inefficient clinician matching while building a solution that could handle high demand from day one.

I led the product design for both web and mobile platforms, creating an intuitive ecosystem that empowers NHS Trusts to manage shifts, track workforce performance, and streamline operations in one unified interface. The design focused on simplifying shift management through smart shift creation, real-time notifications, and an intelligent matching engine that instantly connects Trusts with qualified clinicians. I designed a comprehensive dashboard that centralizes bank staff, agency workers, and substantive roles, while incorporating analytics, payroll integration, and workforce insights to enable data-driven decision-making.

The impact included reducing admin burden through automation, accelerating shift fill rates with AI-powered matching (achieving 75% match rates), and creating a live shift marketplace that gives NHS teams complete visibility and control. The platform successfully bridges the gap between clinician engagement and operational efficiency, delivering a future-ready solution that transforms NHS recruitment from reactive rostering to proactive, intelligent workforce management.
