A: The short answer is Fake Radio is an art series depicting imaginary artists producing imaginary music. It's a fun side project that gives me a break from a pretty intense work load.

A: Well despite giving up on the idea of being a professional musician 20 years ago to focus on design, I still spend a lot of time thinking about the creative process behind conceiving, recording and publishing music. Like many career 'creatives' who work freelance or remotely, music is often my only friend for long stretches of the day / night so it forms a significant part of my own process.

A: Deep down I think everyone has a tiny rockstar dream in them somewhere. These images are just my way of living that out with the other skills I've developed over 20+ years as a designer.

A: I'm really not sure. I guess I'll stop when I get bored with the idea, but right now I'm having a blast just making things with no client or objective in mind.

A: A few people have nudged me to mint these as NFT's and I might do that at some point but a) Designing Web3 protocol interfaces is actually my day job so I don't really want to mix that with my fun stuff and b) The reason Beeps and Matty do so well is those guys genuinely love what they do and have been putting out amazing work forever, regardless of who is watching... Showing up consistently is what matters.

It was immediately clear to me that 80% of the skills and tools I'd been playing with in this series would be largely irrelevant within 6-12 months.

I ended up making a few more in early January 2023, then quietly retired the idea.
