Situation: In 2021 and 2022, I was nominated as the Africa Community Champion for the SCB Data Science & Automation Program. In this role, I was responsible for mentoring and training over 30 students in a 6-month boot camp course, with the aim of creating a more data-driven culture and empowering colleagues to become skilled Citizen Data Developers.

Task: As the Community Champion, my primary responsibilities included coaching and collaborating with participants on real business use cases, leveraging data science, data analytics tools, and process automation tools.

Action: We used key tools such as Python, Tableau, Alteryx, NewGen, and SQL to address specific use cases. In 2021, we had two use cases from Africa shortlisted in a grand finale event, showcasing our success in nurturing data-driven professionals. I led one use case focusing on enhancing customer experience during the onboarding process by analyzing and re-engineering the existing process. In another use case, I spearheaded the automation of daily regulatory reporting for client delivery teams across four key African markets.

Results/Accomplishments:

1.     Developed an online standardized onboarding template, contributing to a 30% reduction in new customer churn rates during the onboarding phase.

2.     Eliminated numerous hand-offs causing delays and integrated the entire onboarding experience within a unified ecosystem.

3.     Created an open tracking system for client delivery teams across the Africa, Middle East (AME) region, improving transparency and collaboration.

4.     Reduced the turnaround time for daily regulatory reporting from 4 man-hours to 20 minutes per day, allowing client delivery teams to focus on high-priority tasks.

These achievements demonstrated my leadership in promoting a data-driven culture, optimizing operations, and enhancing overall performance across various markets.
