We met Samuel in person, and it didn't take long to feel a real connection — a Toronto-based editorial and commercial photographer whose portraits have appeared everywhere from NOW Magazine to campaigns for major brands. He came to us with a clear point of view: family photography, as a category, had gone stale, and he wanted to build something that didn't compromise — Kin & Co., an editorial portrait studio for design-conscious families who treat their homes, and how they're seen, as an extension of their identity. We knew immediately we wanted to help him bring that vision to life, elevated to match the level of taste and intention he brings to every session.
Together, we developed a full brand identity and a bespoke Framer website, built to feel as considered and art directed as the sessions themselves, from first consultation through to the framed prints that hang on the wall.
This project included:

Branding & Visual Identity

Kin & Co. isn't just another family photography studio—it's redefining the category. We built a brand that feels as intentional as Samuel's own sessions: quietly confident, editorial, with a warmth that keeps it from feeling cold. A custom serif wordmark, anchored by an experimental ampersand, pairs with a high-contrast palette of warm neutrals and deep umber, and a typewriter-inspired accent type that nods to vintage photographic prints. It's refined, tactile, and unmistakably Kin & Co.

Figma UI Design + Custom Framer Web Development

Kin & Co.'s sessions are bespoke and art directed, so the website needed to feel the same. We designed a clean, editorial-forward experience — one that lets the photography lead without ever slipping into a gallery or portfolio page, and walks visitors through the process the way Samuel walks his clients through it: consultation, creative direction, the reveal. Built from a custom Figma system into a bespoke Framer site, the final result balances editorial restraint with clear paths to inquire, inviting the right families to begin a commission.

Collateral

Beyond the core identity, we designed a full brand application system for Kin & Co. — from business cards and letterhead to a signature kraft mailer box and social templates. Every detail, typography, embossed finishes, textured backgrounds, and layout, was considered to extend the studio's tactile, print-first philosophy to every future touchpoint. The result is a cohesive visual language, ready to carry Kin & Co.'s identity from a business card to a social post to the box a client's prints arrive in.

At its heart, this project was about restraint. Samuel's photography is the real star of Kin & Co., and our job was never to compete with it, but to build a brand quiet and considered enough to let it lead. Every typographic choice, every inch of negative space, every material touchpoint exists to give his images room to breathe, an elevated structure for something this personal to live in. The result is a brand that doesn't just represent Kin & Co. — it lets it blossom.
