Kindred: Brand Identity & Website

The challenge

Kindred was brand new. Not early-stage — new. No logo, no language, no website, and a set of conversations already on the calendar with program partners and funders who would form an opinion in the first ten seconds of looking them up.
That's the hard version of a brand project. There was no existing material to refine and no track record to point at, so everything had to come out of the founders' intent — and it had to land on the first pass, because the timeline didn't allow a second.

What I built

Visual identity. Logo, color, and type, built as a system rather than a single logo file, so it holds together across a deck, a website, and a program document made by someone who isn't a designer.
Verbal identity. Voice and core messaging. This is the half most brand projects skip, and it's the half that decides whether a founder can walk into two different partner meetings and describe the organization the same way both times.
The website. Designed and built in Framer, specifically so the team could edit it themselves. A new organization that has to file a request to change a paragraph will quietly stop updating its site within a month.
A branding roadmap. What to extend and in what order as the organization grows — the deliverable that keeps the work useful after I'm no longer on it.

Outcome

Kindred launched with a brand that reflects what the organization actually is, and a site its team controls — a foundation for talking to partners and funders, rather than a placeholder to apologize for.

"We were looking for support to develop our brand in a lightweight but still professional way, and Freedom to Launch came to us at exactly the right time." — Saamra Mekuria-Grillo, Founder

A brand-new social-impact organization with no logo, no language and no site — given a full visual and verbal identity plus a Framer site its own team could run, in about eight weeks.
