Food is everything; it's delicious, it's vital, it's exhausting. In a world where we have to decide everything… What to wear in the morning, having only ten minutes to get to the office, the perfect mirror selfie to get your crush to answer your Insta story, and what to eat (for a minimum of three meals) every day… Sometimes, it's nice not having to make an unavoidable decision. So let AI decide for you.

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chatbot that specializes in dialogue. Basically, it’s AI that learns how to manage a human-like conversation, to which you can ask questions on every topic imaginable.

The options are endless. Don’t know what to eat for lunch? Inquire for a healthy protein filled salad. Want a simple snack? Request a five-step recipe for a tasty quick bite. The recipe from that glorious black cod with miso you ate at Nobu? Ask ChatGPT, and you shall receive.

You may be having a dinner party with your work friends, and it so happens that more than none, have dietary restrictions. Fire up ChatGPT and throw in there “a dinner party menu that includes vegetarian, gluten and lactose-free options.” You may think, there’s no way that would work. Well, think again! Not only you’ll get different ideas for appetizers, main dishes, desserts and beverages, ChatGPT will also kindly remind you to label the dishes accordingly. What a nice robot.

It doesn’t even have to be a fancy search. Sometimes, you just have random veggies in your fridge that, for the life of you, don’t know how to serve. And, like any other person out there, you hate wasting food. You can just list these ingredients and ChatGPT will sort out different ideas and their recipes to make sure you enjoy a tasty meal, with food you thought could not be salvaged.

After all, the robots may not really be what we once envisioned, watching The Jetsons when we were kids. But, if they can indeed help me decide my dinner, walk me through step-by-step of an italian casserole, and diversify my palate in the process, I’ll gladly embrace ChatGPT in the kitchen. Maybe one day, it’ll actually cook all of this for us.
