If a candidate comes to you with all the right qualities for the role, but doesn't have the experience to back it up...give them a chance!

Try sending candidates a mock-project to see what they're capable of, get a better sense of their skill level, and see how they can work on a project timeline. You can base this off of a past project that your team completed, and see how this candidate approaches the same prompt. This will also give you a better understanding of how your thinking and working style aligns.
