Aegis: Secure File Delivery System Design

I designed Aegis, a privacy first file delivery system that allows freelancers and agencies to share NDAs, unreleased designs, and sensitive IP without losing control. By focusing on localized encryption and an ephemeral, view only experience, Aegis eliminates the anxiety of client data leaks while keeping the UX entirely frictionless.

The Problem: The Trust Gap in Client Handoffs

Freelancers handle highly sensitive assets, from pre-launch branding to strict NDAs. Yet, the industry standard relies on standard email attachments or generic cloud links. Once a file is downloaded by a client, the creator loses all control. It becomes vulnerable to forwarding, unauthorized screenshots, and permanent retention long after a contract expires.

The Solution: Security Without the Friction

I designed Aegis to put data sovereignty back in the creator’s hands. The goal was to take high level cryptographic concepts (like zero knowledge architecture) and translate them into a visually engaging, effortless user experience.
Using a stark Blue, Pure White, and Neon Pink color palette, the interface communicates structural integrity while instantly drawing attention to critical security alerts.

Design Highlights & Core Features

The Glass Box Upload Experience: Security is often invisible, which causes user anxiety. I designed the upload state to visually communicate local encryption, showing users exactly when their file is being armored before it ever hits the cloud.
Frictionless Policy Configuration: A clean, bottom sheet modal allows the sender to set the rules of engagement. Features include a Self Destruct Timer (like 24 hour access) and toggles to strictly prevent file downloads.
Dynamic Anti Screenshot Watermarks: When a client opens a link, they enter a secure, web based viewer. The document is subtly overlaid with their IP address and email. It is a psychological and physical deterrent against unauthorized capturing.
The Audit Trail & Kill Switch: A vertical timeline gives the sender real time analytics. If a screenshot is attempted, the system flags it with a high contrast Neon Pink alert. A prominent Kill Link button allows the creator to revoke access instantly, wiping the file from the viewer’s screen in real time.

The Takeaway

Aegis proves that enterprise grade security does not have to look or feel intimidating. By automating the heavy lifting and focusing on clear, satisfying micro interactions, complex privacy tools can be transformed into a daily use productivity asset.
