Glorify App – UX, Paywall Design, and Gamified Faith Features

Designing for Spiritual Growth

Glorify is a faith-based app designed to help people deepen their spiritual life through daily devotionals, guided reflections, and a supportive community. The product blends thoughtful design with spiritual discipline, using features like visual progress, habit-building tools, and invite-based rewards to keep users engaged. It’s both a daily companion and a growing ecosystem for Christian practice.

My Role

I joined Glorify to help fill a gap in the design team on short notice. It was an ad hoc setup, so I had to adapt quickly and start contributing right away. Most of my work was with the monetization team, designing paywalls, upgrade prompts, and Glorify Plus flows. At the same time I explored new features like the Tree of Faith and Evangelist Space, helped with the app’s visual refresh, and designed the AI Companion from scratch. I also jumped in to clean up the design system and bring more consistency across the app.

Monetization and Conversion

We gave Glorify Plus a much clearer visual structure, reworked the paywalls into swappable test-friendly blocks, and added smarter upgrade prompts where they actually made sense. That helped drive record-breaking free trials in the US, 42 percent trial-to-paid conversion, and over 60 percent renewal in month one.

Gamification and Habits

The Tree of Faith was already in the app, but it had no real sense of progression. I redesigned it into a more dynamic system where users could grow their tree more frequently and feel rewarded for staying consistent. It made spiritual habits feel more alive without relying fully on traditional streak mechanics. I also designed the Evangelist Space, a feature that let users share devotionals, invite friends, and climb a monthly leaderboard. It turned everyday interactions into something more rewarding, both personally and socially. I led the whole process from early sketches to final handoff.

AI Companion

I designed the AI Companion as a beta feature, a conversational assistant that recommends devotionals and Bible content based on user input and activity. Users could choose from presets like mood or topic, but the real goal was to make them ask freely and explore their spiritual needs in a more natural way. The entire experience, from flow logic to tone and interface, was built to feel supportive without being robotic. I handled the full design process from start to finish, making sure the assistant felt like a thoughtful guide, not a tech gimmick.

UI Refresh and Opening Experience

As the brand evolved, parts of the app needed a visual update. I fully redesigned the Profile and Settings screens to align with the new look and feel, focusing on structure, clarity, and tone. The Home tab got lighter treatment, mostly small tweaks to support new features. I also worked on the opening animation to better reflect the updated brand and make the transition into the app feel smoother and faster. Once the direction was defined, the creative team took over production.

Design System

The design system was messy and mid-transition when I joined, so I stepped in to bring structure. I created most of the new components from scratch, unified patterns across the app, and set up a system that worked across Figma and Storybook. It made collaboration smoother and gave us a reliable set of building blocks to move faster without reinventing the wheel every time.

Reflections

Working on Glorify gave me a first-hand look at designing for scale. I saw how A/B testing plays out in real time and how small design choices can move business metrics. If I were to do it again, I’d step in earlier with stronger structure and push the design system foundation from day one. This project made me even more excited to work on products that blend purpose, strategy, and craft. Especially with teams that move fast and care about the details.
