Case Study: DigiSecra Security App

Introduction

Hello 😄! My name is Muhammad EL Yafi Putra Kailany, a product design freelancer and currently studying at IDN Boarding School for the last few Years. I have been participating in a UI/UX design competition held by Udayana University. This UI/UX case study is the competition project

Problem Identification

In today’s hyper-connected landscape, digital activity has become an inseparable part of daily life, particularly for Indonesia’s younger generation, with over 210 million people online as of 2025. From social media engagement to digital banking, the exchange of sensitive personal data is constant; yet, this rapid digital adoption is not yet matched by adequate security awareness.
Many users remain vulnerable to identity theft, account hacking, and financial fraud due to preventable errors such as using weak passwords, falling for phishing scams, or granting excessive app permissions. This widening gap in digital literacy underscores a critical need for accessible, engaging educational initiatives that empower young people with the tools and knowledge to protect their privacy and navigate the digital ecosystem with confidence.

Objectives

In an era of rapid technological advancement, our mission is to develop an AI-powered “Digital Security Guide for Everyday Life,” designed to bridge the gap between complex cybersecurity and daily user habits. By leveraging artificial intelligence, this platform offers adaptive, personalized recommendations that help students and the general public stay ahead of cyber threats, including phishing, identity theft, and data breaches.

We aim to transform cybersecurity from a technical hurdle into a seamless lifestyle through simple yet effective guidance on password management, multi-factor authentication, and privacy settings. Ultimately, our goal is to empower the younger generation to become tech-savvy, vigilant, and responsible digital citizens, fostering a healthy and collaborative digital culture where data protection is an integral part of modern living.

Audience

The core of this initiative is strategically focused on teenagers aged 13 to 19, specifically high school and vocational students who are deeply immersed in the internet and social media ecosystems. Despite being digital natives, this demographic often operates with a limited understanding of the sophisticated risks associated with their online presence. By centering the user experience on the students themselves, the system aims to foster independent digital resilience rather than relying on top-down supervision. In this framework, teachers and parents are intentionally positioned as supportive facilitators rather than primary users, ensuring that the platform speaks directly to the youth in a language and format that resonates with their fast-paced digital lifestyle, ultimately empowering them to take full ownership of their personal data security.

User characteristics

The platform is meticulously designed to address the specific needs of high school students who are highly active in the digital space, utilizing the internet as their primary hub for academic research, entertainment, and social networking. Despite their technical fluency, these users often exhibit a critical gap in digital defense, frequently overlooking personal data protection in favor of convenience. To bridge this, the system provides simplified, interactive, and highly relevant guidance tailored to help them cultivate sustainable security habits. Furthermore, the ecosystem extends its reach to teachers and parents as secondary stakeholders; while not the primary focus, they serve as vital supporting users who can leverage the platform as a pedagogical tool to mentor students, collectively fostering a more responsible and secure digital culture within the community.

Final Design

Therefore, Digisecra was designed as guidancel product, ensuring it is elegant, dynamic, responsive, reassuring, and high in contrast.

System Usability Scale

User Experience Validation: Achieving Excellence in Usability

To ensure the platform effectively meets the needs of our users, we conducted a rigorous usability evaluation using the System Usability Scale (SUS) methodology. This assessment measured key metrics including ease of use, system consistency, and user confidence during interaction.
The evaluation yielded exceptional results:
Average SUS Score: The platform achieved an outstanding average score of 89, placing it well above the industry standard.
Adjective Rating: Based on the SUS benchmark, our application is categorized as “Excellent.”
Acceptability Score: The system is ranked in the “Acceptable” range, indicating that users find the interface intuitive and are highly likely to recommend it to others.
These results validate that our AI-powered guidance system is not only functional but also highly user-friendly, ensuring that students and the general public can navigate digital security practices with minimal friction and high satisfaction.

Awards
