Too much computer use can cause a lot of health problems. Computer users are at risk of having mental health problems, such as stress, panic attacks or paranoia.
The article ''Computer users at risk: Health disorders associated with prolonged computer use'' written by Abida Ellahia, M. Shahid Khalil, and Fouzia Akram points out what problems can arise from sitting in front of the computer for too long.
According to Punnett and Bergquist, too much computer use can develop some physical problems. The most popular one is issued with hands and wrists. There are in much more risks than the rest of our bodies because we use the keyboard during working in front of the computer or laptop all the time. To tire hands and wrists for so many hours every day can be a huge issue for students and people who work in the office.
The article shows many pieces of research where we can see how many hours spent in front of the monitor is unhealthy for us or who is at more risk, men or women.
Additionally, the pain can get to the neck and our shoulders. It is all about the way we are sitting. It is very important to sit straight when we are planning to spend more hours than is allowed.
The next matter that is worth mentioning is mental disorders. A lot of stress can be followed by using too much technology. According to the text, 75% of women are stressed out because of the number of hours, there are spending in front of the monitor.
When it comes to the age gap, many young people have high computer vision syndrome. It can happen between the age of 25-30. A huge group of young adults is more likely to get all the syndromes and diseases because they are working a lot in front of a computer or studying. So, the workplace or study place requires this from them.
From my point of view, the article needs to be read by a lot of people. No matter what age they are or their gender. It is one of the most common problems in the twenty-one century and it is very hard to fight it. A computer is used for work, studying and everyday use and we cannot live without it but we have to learn how to control it and be careful how many hours, we are spending in front of the monitor. In my opinion, the article is very well written. The vocabulary may be a bit difficult in some parts but most of the test is well organized and easy to follow.
To conclude, several problems are created by using too much technology. Parts of our hands, neck, shoulders, and even eyes are at so much risk and are most like to get an injury.
