Mock writing sample for music entertainment that addresses difficult topics.
Music is needed to keep people entertain and to give them fun. Aside from that, music should give a message to people about history, politics, and all points that have to be said. Jazz music shows us, that it plays a huge role through the years. It addresses the relation between jazz music and historical and political points.
The article, ''Playing out loud: Jazz music and social protest'' written by Ricardo Nuno Future Pinheiro teaches us about how Jazz music expresses itself. From a historical point of view, jazz music was giving people political messages that included the case for civil war. To protest, there were thrown the concerts. For example, showing people's feelings about discharging nine black children by ''Little Rock Center High School" is proven to be one of the most powerful messages that jazz music gave us. Another example that is mentioned in the article is '' Alabama'' written by John Coltrane, he introduced us to the attack in which four African Americans were killed. The church where the incident had happened, became the center place of Civil Rights activities.
The author intrudes on the elements influenced by African and Indian music. Those are called non-western influences. That kind of music was supposed to tell us about being against North American cultural and social values. Non-western music and culture were meant to create a new black culture with American beliefs, for example, the author points to ''Christianity''.
Jazz music was also fighting against creative restrictions. The era where it happened the most is called ''Bebop" which in Collins Dictionary means a type of Jazz in the 1940s and characterized by complex harmony and rhythm. It was a time when new musicals were practicing new ideas for melody or instrumental virtuosity which means that they were trying to improve their skills in music and their creations.
According to those new musicals, there were also protests against racism where the focus was on white society. That says that jazz music was focused on human rights and musicians were truly fighting for all the rights they believed in. From my point of view, the article is an excellent way to learn that music is not only dedicated to dancing and having a good time but also to focusing on a message that all kinds of songs and music give us. I am more related to the songs from the '70s and '80s. There were a lot of meanings in the songs that change the world and also change people's points of view about all kinds of important cases.
Jazz music these days is connected with politicals rights and all kinds of protests and it was always noticeable in musician's creations, in melody, instruments, and words.
