Fanatick - For the Ultimate Fan

A mobile soccer trivia experience designed for engagement, competition, and fun

Overview

Fanatick is a mobile application concept built for soccer fans who want to test their knowledge, compete with friends, and turn quiz into a more engaging experience.
As an app designer, I approached Fanatick as a complete mobile app design and product design project, focusing not only on the visual interface but also on onboarding, gameplay, progression, rewards, and social competition.
The goal was to make answering trivia feel less like completing a quiz and more like playing a football match.

Problem

Football fans love proving their knowledge, but many trivia apps fail to deliver a truly engaging and competitive experience.
Common challenges include:
Cluttered interfaces that overwhelm new users
Repetitive gameplay with little sense of progression
Limited emotional connection to real soccer events and tournaments
Weak multiplayer and social engagement mechanics
As a result, users can lose interest quickly, making engagement and retention difficult to maintain.
Fanatick was designed to solve this by creating a football-first mobile app experience that feels as exciting as the game itself.

Agitate

Footballis not just a sport, it’s emotion, rivalry, history, and pride.
Yet many trivia applications:
Treat every topic the same, ignoring iconic tournaments like the Champions League or World Cup
Fail to gamify progress, making wins feel less meaningful
Don't reward daily participation or friendly competition
Miss opportunities to build habits through challenges and leaderboards
For a fan, answering questions should feel like playing a match, not filling out a form.
Without an immersive mobile app user experience and thoughtful game mechanics, even passionate fans can lose interest.

Solution

I designed Fanatick as a match-like trivia mobile application, combining intuitive UX, soccer-inspired metaphors, and competitive gameplay.
The product design focused on creating a complete experience from the first interaction and onboarding to gameplay, progression, rewards, multiplayer competition, and social sharing.
The core idea was simple:
Make every quiz feel like a match.

Key UX & Product Decisions

Seamless Onboarding for Instant Play
The onboarding experience was designed to get users into the game with minimal friction.
Minimal welcome animation with a strong brand presence
Quick sign-up via Email, Google, Twitter, or Facebook
Clear value proposition: “Test your soccer knowledge. Compete globally.”
Goal: Reduce friction and get users into the game within seconds.
This helped establish a simple and approachable starting point for the mobile app design.
Home Screen Built for Exploration & Competition
The home screen acts as the user's control center.
It brings together:
Player profile with avatar, rank, points, coins, and badges
Multiple game modes
Daily Challenge for habit-building
Global and friends-based Leaderboards
Goal: Balance choice with speed allow users to explore while keeping the option to play instantly.
The interface was designed around the way users naturally navigate a gaming-focused mobile application.
Gameplay That Feels Like a Soccer Match
The gameplay experience is structured around the familiar rhythm of a football match.
Themed UI based on the selected tournament
Countdown kickoff before questions begin
Questions divided into First Half and Second Half
Live score tracking
Lifelines such as 50:50 and audience help
Instant visual and haptic feedback for correct and incorrect answers
Goal: Make every quiz feel tense, exciting, and competitive.
Rather than designing a conventional quiz interface, I used soccer as the foundation for the interaction model and visual language.
Results That Feel Rewarding
The post-game experience focuses on motivation and progression.
Final score and rank display
Badges and rewards earned
Multiplayer results showing player-vs-player performance
Easy social sharing
Goal: Turn wins into pride and losses into motivation.
These moments were designed to create a stronger sense of progression and give players reasons to return to the mobile app.

Product Design Approach

Fanatick was designed as more than a collection of screens.
As part of the product design process, I considered how individual interactions connect to create a complete user journey:
Onboarding → Explore → Play → Compete → Earn → Share → Return
This helped ensure that the UI design and UX worked together as one cohesive product experience.
The visual system uses soccer-inspired elements, strong hierarchy, game-like feedback, and clear interaction patterns to make the application feel energetic without becoming difficult to use.

Final Product

The final mobile app design creates a complete soccer trivia experience centered around competition, progression, and community.
From onboarding to gameplay and post-match results, each part of the mobile application was designed to reinforce the feeling of being part of a real football match.
The result is a product concept that combines:
Mobile App Design · Product Design · UI/UX · Gamification · Sports Experience
As an mobile app designer, my focus was on creating an experience that is not only visually engaging but also gives users a clear reason to play, compete, and return.

Outcome & Expected Impact

The product experience was designed around several key outcomes:
Faster onboarding → Reduce friction and encourage first-session completion
Match-like gameplay → Create stronger emotional engagement
Daily challenges & leaderboards → Encourage repeat participation
Multiplayer & sharing → Create opportunities for social competition and organic growth
Ultimately, Fanatick turns soccer trivia into a more immersive mobile application experience, combining thoughtful mobile app design with game mechanics and product strategy.

Thanks for taking the time to explore this project.
A well-designed digital experience can do more than create a great first impression it can improve conversions, build customer trust, and strengthen how your brand is perceived. If your current design isn’t doing that, it might be time to rethink your design strategy.
