Happy disability pride month, everybody! You may be thinking to yourself, what’s disability pride month? I’ve never heard of it? Well, I’m here to tell you what disability pride month is and some people I think you should follow to learn more about it. July is international disability pride month it focuses on celebrating the diversity of the disability community. Here are some of my favorite disabled content creators you should consider following and subscribing to.
1. Molly Burke: Molly has retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative eye disease that caused her to become blind. You can find her on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. She posts about accessibility, guides dog awareness, and life hacks as a blind person. Over the years has made quite the name for herself on social media. She has gained almost 2 million subscribers on Y ouTube Instagram TikTok
2. Chelsea Bear Chelsea is a disability influencer who authentically shares her life with cerebral palsy on social media; her goal is to spread positivity and disability awareness through lighthearted, educational, and awareness posts about life with cerebral palsy, including topics such as accessibility, adaptive workouts and traveling. Over the years, she’s gained 325,000 followers on Instagram
3. Corey Singer Corey is an autistic Singer-songwriter and actor who shares his life authentically on Instagram TikTok.
4. Corey Lee Corey is a well-known disability and travel influencer. Cory’s goal is to show how to travel and where to travel as a disabled person. With 20.1 thousand Instagram
5. Madison Lawson is well known disabled journalist advocate and model with an impressive social media presence; she has 149 thousand followers on Instagram. She has most notably written for Teen Vogue, Allure, Vogue, and Glamour. On top of writing for various magazines, she is the editor for cripple media, a GenZ run media company run by disabled individuals.
