To create a style guide. 

There was no comprehensive central repository of copy standard for the UX Writing team and designers to reference and follow.

First, I started with researching the brand, getting to know its audience and purpose (I used the materials from the user persona development). This includes establishing its brand’s tone of voice, visual identity, and any other existing brand assets.

Then I created a plan for what I wanted included in the style guide, including what information it should include and what format it should be in.

Then I started writing the content for the style guide, including sections such as: 

Our Role & Who We Collaborate With: Guidelines on what is expected of a UX Writer within the company, Primary responsibilities and general what-you-need-to-know.

Voice and Tone: the voice and tone of the brand

Further Guidelines: Guidelines for other areas of text like error pages, empty states, confirmation texts, buttons, etc.

Good UX Checklist: A checklist for inspecting your copy against content guidelines and recommended practices at every design stage.
