WeChat Integration Proof of Concept for SaaS

Turning an open-ended integration goal into a working enterprise mobile proof of concept.

The goal was to explore how an existing enterprise SaaS platform could integrate with WeChat as a new user channel.

The business direction was clear, but the WeChat-side solution was not. The challenge was to determine what the integration should look like technically and how existing enterprise functionality could be translated into a mobile experience.

I led the WeChat-side solution design and development.

I independently designed the application UI, application structure, Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layer, and REST API interactions, then implemented the proof of concept using Node.js and Vue.js on SAP Cloud Platform.

I translated the broad integration goal into a workable system design connecting the existing enterprise platform with a WeChat mobile experience.

The resulting architecture separated the system into:

Enterprise Platform → REST APIs → BFF Layer → WeChat Experience

Rather than coupling WeChat directly to the existing enterprise system, the BFF provided a dedicated layer for the mobile experience.

I built a working proof of concept demonstrating the integration in practice, including the application UI, BFF structure, and REST API interactions.

The project went beyond a concept or architecture proposal: it demonstrated a functional approach that was subsequently used as a guideline for WeChat integration for the China market.

This project started without a predefined technical solution. I took an open-ended integration goal and turned it into a concrete architecture and working proof of concept:
