Vellum Editions: Literary Luxury E-Commerce Concept

Muhammad Muneeb

Muhammad Muneeb

A concept storefront for a luxury literary-inspired silk scarf brand, designed and built to explore a premium editorial e-commerce direction.
Vellum Editions is a fictional brand I created from scratch to test how cinematic typography, scroll animation, and narrative-driven product design can work together in a luxury e-commerce context. Every scarf in the collection is tied to a work of classical literature, and the site is built to make that story feel as tangible as the product itself.

The Concept

Most luxury e-commerce treats product descriptions as an afterthought. I wanted to build a store where the story behind each product is inseparable from the shopping experience — where browsing feels like walking through a curated exhibition, not scrolling a product grid.

What I Built

Editorial homepage with cinematic hero imagery, scroll-triggered animations, and a "Wear Literature" brand narrative woven throughout
Collection showcase featuring 4 limited-edition scarves, each inspired by a different literary work (The Odyssey, Botticelli's Muse, Dante's Inferno, Ovid's Metamorphoses), with quick-view functionality
Brand storytelling sections: origin story, craftsmanship breakdown (Italian silk sourcing, hand-finished roulotté edges, museum-inspired archives, limited production runs), and an editorial journal/artwork gallery
Collector testimonials and a sustainability narrative integrated naturally into the page flow
Full responsive build with smooth scroll behavior, staggered text animations, and a refined typographic system throughout

Technical Stack

Next.js, React, CSS animations, deployed on Netlify. The design system prioritizes editorial typography and generous whitespace to match the "quiet luxury" positioning.

Result

A complete concept store that demonstrates how editorial storytelling and e-commerce conversion can coexist. The site reads like a magazine and functions like a shop.
This is a design and development concept project, not a live commercial store.
