Assisted a client in downloading two embedded videos—extended match highlights and tunnel cam footage—from the official Manchester City FC website. The task involved bypassing complex webpage structures and analyzing how the videos were embedded using dynamic JavaScript players with content protected via streaming protocols.
Standard download tools were ineffective due to the use of encrypted streams (likely HLS) and content obfuscation. I reverse-engineered the page using browser developer tools, traced network requests, and identified the actual video segment URLs. I then reconstructed the stream and converted it into a format compatible with macOS, ensuring smooth playback on the client’s iMac.
The project required knowledge of web protocols, content delivery networks (CDNs), and HTTP traffic inspection—skills relevant to both cybersecurity and ethical hacking, particularly in understanding how data is delivered, protected, and sometimes restricted. The experience reinforced the importance of web security layers and demonstrated my ability to work within legal boundaries while navigating complex systems.
