🔍 Project Overview
LUMIÈRE is a horizontal magazine concept that explores how cinematic layout principles can translate to digital editorial design. The project uses widescreen compositions, bold typography, and horizontal scrolling to create an immersive reading experience.
⚡ The Challenge
Most digital magazines follow vertical scroll patterns borrowed from web conventions. The challenge was designing a horizontal reading experience that feels natural and cinematic, using the full width of the screen as a storytelling canvas without confusing navigation expectations.
🎯 Design Approach
Cinematic widescreen compositions. Each spread uses the full horizontal viewport, treating content like film frames. Images and text are composed for landscape orientation, creating a magazine-meets-cinema browsing feel.
Bold typographic anchors. Headlines are oversized and expressive, serving as visual entry points for each section. The type scale creates dramatic contrast between display and body text.
Horizontal navigation logic. The reading flow moves left to right with clear visual cues for progression. Transitions between sections feel like turning pages rather than scrolling a feed.
✅ Outcome
A magazine concept that proves horizontal digital layouts can feel natural and immersive when designed with cinematic intent. The typography-driven approach creates a distinctive reading experience that stands apart from conventional vertical web design.
