Project Overview

The project aims to develop a user-friendly and robust restaurant/food/influencer tracking app. Currently, influencers visit restaurants and provide their ratings. This will collect all that information and provide a single pane view rather than scrolling through multiple videos on TikTok/Instagram.

Background

If you visit a new city (Houston), you want to experience good food. It can be hit or miss going to Google Maps and finding places, asking questions on Twitter, or other methods. We want an application that maps out places influencers have visited and provides those details to users so they can make better choices for a better food experience. Instagram and TikTok are both video platforms. They don’t have a robust search feature and videos can easily get lost. This is where we come in with a map and all the locations influencers have visited to make better-informed decisions.

Business Goals and Objectives

The primary goal we aim to achieve is to map out locations food influencers have visited. We also want to be able to crowdsource users to recommend locations to influencers to visit in their favourite cities.

User Requirements

User Profiles

Users sign in and can select their favourite food influencers. After signing in they are presented with a map with locations their influencers have visited. Users can receive alerts when their favourite influencers have a new location added to the map.

Usability Testing

Usability Testing 1:-
Issue: Admins find it difficult to input new locations on the map and link videos to those locations.
Solution: Simplify the location input process for admins by providing a streamlined form where they can input location details (name, address, etc.) and easily attach video links. Implement an auto-suggestion feature for location addresses to minimise errors and improve efficiency.
Issue: Subscribing users face difficulty in bookmarking locations for later review.
Solution: Enhance the bookmarking functionality by allowing users to easily bookmark locations with a single tap or click. Introduce visual indicators (such as a heart icon) to signify bookmarked locations, and provide a dedicated "Bookmarks" section within the app for users to access and manage their saved locations.
Usability Testing 2:-
Issue: Subscribing users encounter challenges in searching for specific food types and filtering down to locations and/or influencers.
Solution: Revamp the search functionality to include advanced filters based on food types, locations, and influencers. Implement a predictive search feature that suggests relevant food types as users type, making the search process faster and more intuitive. Allow users to apply multiple filters simultaneously for precise results. Additionally, provide clear instructions or tooltips to guide users on how to effectively use the search and filter options.
Issue: Users struggle to recommend locations to their favourite influencers or any influencers at all.
Solution: Introduce a prominent "Recommend Location" feature accessible from the main interface. Users should be able to easily input the location details and optionally attach a video link. Encourage engagement by rewarding users with points or badges for their recommendations.

UI Design

After addressing the usability issues, I transitioned to the UI design phase, utilising Figma as the primary design tool. The core objective was to establish a visually compelling and cohesive design resonating with the brand's core values.
