WELCOME TO THE SICKEST CORNER OF THE PLANET
Hypochondriac Party is an illustrated series starring a hpochondriac hyppo: anxious, sedentary, sugar-addicted and deeply trapped in his own mental spiral.
From his armchair to neon-lit nights, this humanoid animal embodies a generation stuck between self-diagnosis, health trends and low-grade existential dread.
A mix of comic book absurdity, decaying  rave flyers and wearable neurosis.
CONCEPT AND APPROACH
The character: A hippo embodying the adult who’s always feeling “off” but never knows why.
The tone: Satirical, pop-infused, neurotic, and a little too relatable.
The style: Comic textures, manual halftones, dirty overlays, vintage hues and arcade poster vibes.
The goal: Build a visual universe where anxiety and exaggeration become narrative and product.
THE COUCH AND THE MAGIC DRINK - Our first glimpse of the hippo: frozen in his chair, screen glowing, trash food all around. His comfort zone is also his trap. One wall even reads: Sliced bread gives me hiccups.
CHOOSE YOUR ILLNES VINTAGE POSTER - A retro-styled alternative version that mimics old flyers and arcade print. The tagline: Choose your illness turns his state of mind into a customizable menu.
BUS STOP AND MUTANT FISH  - The world gets bigger. The hippo now interacts with other strange creatures — like a mutant fish dragging itself down a sketchy sidewalk. It’s not just him. The whole city is sick.
DISCO PARANOIA - Under a disco ball, two hippos dance while one asks the ultimate question: "Do I want it or do I have it?" Desire, fear and confusion hit the dance floor.
DANCE MACHINE MERCH DESIGN - Monochrome version of the character, printed like a retro arcade game. Insert 25¢ to dance. Zero chance of getting better.
FINAL PRODUCT T-SHIRT
The closing loop: the illness becomes wearable. The arcade-style design is screen printed on the back of a white tee, turning the project into collectible merch. A shirt for those unsure if their thing is contagious, mental… or just trendy.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Hypochondriac Party is a way to visualize the invisible: fear, obsession, overthinking. But mostly, it's an excuse to laugh about it all — because sometimes the best therapy is saying it out loud and drawing it in high contrast. We don’t know if the hippo will ever get better.
