Jumpcut (YC S16) creates captivating online courses for entrepreneurship. Jumpcut’s most popular course, Viral Academy, helps people develop the skills they need in order to turn their passions into a successful content creation career.
I worked at Jumpcut from May 2018 - Nov 2019.
The project focused on overhauling the company's entire onboarding process to create a more structured, tiered program that addresses the needs of both in-office employees and remote contractors. Additionally, it included a detailed departmental onboarding phase for Customer Support, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing, as well as the creation and management of essential company documents and policies.

Objectives:

Tiered Onboarding Program: Develop a comprehensive onboarding process that caters separately to in-office employees and remote contractors, ensuring both groups receive relevant and effective onboarding experiences.
Departmental Onboarding: Implement specialized onboarding phases tailored to individual departments, providing new hires with in-depth understanding and integration into their specific roles and teams.
Documentation and Policy Management: Create and update key company documents, including the employee handbook, and manage critical policies and processes related to vacation, severance, remote work, and more.

Outcome:

The revamped onboarding process resulted in a more organized, engaging, and effective integration experience for new hires. The tiered approach ensured that both in-office employees and remote contractors received relevant onboarding tailored to their work environments. Departmental onboarding enhanced role-specific training, fostering quicker adaptation and productivity. Updated and well-managed company documents and policies provided clear guidance, contributing to a positive and cohesive organizational culture.
Authored a comprehensive employee handbook that outlines company values, culture, and policies, serving as a go-to resource for new and existing employees.
Reviewed, updated, and managed key company policies, including those related to vacation, severance, and remote work, ensuring they are up-to-date, clear, and accessible.
