Burnout is especially common in the fast-paced, competitive environment of the tech industry. These conditions make some individuals thrive or suffer resulting from their personality traits.
Let us re-design workspaces, work styles, and working cultures that favor those personalities who thrive under burnout-inducing scenarios over those who don’t, stopping the exclusion and inequity that’s later reflected as pay differences, promotions, etc.
Employees working in the tech industry struggle to become aware of their burnout state and communicate working-style needs to their managers
The solution is to create a mindfulness dashboard and pop-up that allows employees to use their existing tools, such as wearables, calendars, and activities on their personal and work devices to predict their burnout state while communicating their needs through a hand-raising feature.
The Dashboard is broken down into two functions: daily check-ins and Weekly Journey. The aim is to help employees be aware of their current burnout state through the color orb and take preventative measures through data-action insights.
The Pop-up located in the Mac Menu bar allows employees to have insight on their burnout state through the orb and activate the hand-raising feature to adjust task adjustments, 1:1 meetings and working styles.
We also conducted testing with 4 synchronous and 7 asynchronous testing sessions to see how accessible and inclusive NOON is in addressing employee's burnout frustrations.
Our team won the Student Design Charette 2022, and since then, we've presented our work at Interaction 23 in Zurich for a live audience of 200+ people.
