Project Overview

The Rugby Foodbank, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential food resources, faced a critical challenge. Their existing website failed to engage potential donors and hindered their ability to make a meaningful impact. Frustration and demotivation among users resulted in reduced engagement and support for this noble cause.

Challenges & Pain Points

The Rugby Foodbank's website suffered from a lack of visual appeal, clear navigation, and engaging content. Users found it difficult to navigate and contribute, leading to a sense of disconnect from the organization's mission. The website needed a complete overhaul to create a seamless user experience that would inspire and empower donors.

Solutions Implemented

Through user interviews, we identified frustration and demotivation as key pain points in the existing user experience. Visitors struggled to find information about donating food due to a lack of clarity and a visually unappealing design.
We started by conducting brainstorming sessions and sketching out ideas to revamp the website's layout and organization. This process allowed us to understand different design concepts and prioritize content hierarchy based on user needs.
Using these initial sketches, we created low-fidelity wireframes that served as a foundation for gathering valuable user feedback through usability tests. These tests provided insights into user preferences and highlighted areas where the design could be improved.
Drawing inspiration from various sources, we curated a UI inspiration mood board that captured the desired look and feel of the website. This mood board guided us as we developed a UI style tile and Style Guide, incorporating animations, micro-interactions, and responsive design elements.

Results

The transformation of the Rugby Foodbank website was a testament to the power of user-centred design. Through multiple iterations and continuous collaboration, we achieved a user-friendly interface that empowered donors like Sam to easily navigate and accomplish their goals.
The revamped website now serves as a compelling platform, connecting passionate donors with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in their community. The improved design consistency and user engagement have revitalized support for the Rugby Foodbank's mission.

Future Considerations

While the website has undergone a significant transformation, there is always room for improvement. Given more time, we would focus on enhancing the "get help" feature to cater to a broader audience seeking assistance. Additionally, we would continue refining the design of other pages on the website to further enhance the overall user experience.

Conclusion

By addressing the challenges head-on and implementing a user-centric design approach, we have successfully created an engaging and intuitive website. This transformation has reignited passion and motivation among potential donors, ensuring that the Rugby Foodbank receives the attention and support it truly deserves.
