01 The overview

A minimal, modern website for a company built on precision.
Heinz Jahn Modell- und Formenbau GmbH is a Berlin-based company specializing in high-precision model and form construction for industries ranging from yacht interiors to prototyping and restoration. Their work is incredibly detailed and technical, but their old website didn’t reflect the quality, craftsmanship, or professionalism behind the company. My task was to redesign their entire digital presence — creating a clean, modern, and trustworthy website that communicates what they do clearly and presents them as the forward-thinking manufacturer they are.
What HEINZ JAHN Got Out of This
The new website gives Heinz Jahn a clean, modern presence that finally reflects the precision of their work. It explains their services clearly, showcases their capabilities, and helps potential clients understand why they’re trusted in high-level manufacturing. Results:

- A completely refreshed digital presence that supports their reputation
Clear explanations of services and capabilities
A modern, minimal visual identity that matches their craftsmanship
Improved user flow, making it easier for clients to understand what they do
A fully responsive build across desktop, tablet, and mobile
A fast, maintainable Framer site optimized for performance
A simple CMS system that lets the team update their portfolio whenever needed

02 — The Problem & The Solution

What wasn’t working
The previous website was outdated, unclear, and didn’t match the quality of their craftsmanship. Key issues included:

Unclear service explanations, leaving visitors unsure about what the company actually offers
Outdated design that didn’t reflect their technical precision
No strong visuals or structure to showcase their work
Hard-to-navigate layout, especially for clients unfamiliar with industrial manufacturing
Limited trust-building elements, such as clear case examples or process details
The team needed something simple, modern, and professional — a site that supports both client confidence and company credibility.
What we built
A clean, editorial layout that lets the work speak with confidence.
A structured CMS that makes adding new talent and projects quick and stress-free.
A redesigned roster system that showcases each director and artist clearly and beautifully.
A Producer & Updates feature so new signings, announcements, and studio news actually get noticed.
Light, purposeful motion that adds polish without getting in the way.
A straightforward contact flow that helps the right clients reach out faster.
Everything is flexible enough for the team to maintain long-term without breaking the design.

03 — How I Worked

Understanding the brand
Understanding the brand is always my first step. This means open conversations with the team, desk research, and diving into the niche and world the brand lives in. For Rekorder, this helped uncover who they’re speaking to, what sets their roster apart, and how they want to evolve as a creative studio. What I always look for:
The Brand: values, personality, strengths, and what makes them different
The Audience: who they want to reach and what those people care about
The Goals: the type of work they want more of and where the brand is heading
Designing with strategy, purpose, and clarity
Every design decision was intentional. The website needed to reflect the world Heinz Jahn works in — a world built on precision, clean craftsmanship, and trust. So I created a design system that feels exact and minimal, mirroring the standard their clients expect from their services.
Key foundations of the system:
Clean, structured grids to echo the precision of their work
Clear, confident typography for easy readability
Generous spacing so images and technical details stand out
Modular layouts that keep information organized and consistent
A straightforward structure so visitors always know where they are and what they’re viewing
Building & handing over
Once the design system was set, I:
Built out the CMS
Set up reusable templates
Refined animations and transitions
Optimized performance
Provided training and documentation so the team could update everything with confidence (Which is funny because I ended up getting a job at Rekorder and did all this myself)
The goal was to leave them with a system they fully own — no reliance on a designer or developer for every small change.
