Corporate Sustainability Report Design

I had the opportunity to once again design the Corporate Sustainability Report for Hospital Clínica Bíblica, Costa Rica’s leading private hospital. Overview A leading private hospital needed its annual sustainability report to do more than list data. It had to show the hospital’s commitment to patients, staff, community, and the environment in a way stakeholders would actually read.

The Challenge Sustainability reports are often dense, text-heavy, and hard to get through. This one had to:

Communicate complex data (environmental, social, and governance metrics) clearly

Reflect a healthcare brand that is trustworthy, professional, and caring

Stay consistent with the hospital’s brand guidelines

Work for investors, partners, regulators, and the public

Understanding the content. I started by reviewing the report’s content and goals to decide what needed emphasis and how to organize it into a clear story.

Visual direction. I built a clean and serene design system, based on a restrained color palette combined with a couple of disruptive accent colors, which conveys a sense of care and sustainability while remaining true to the hospital’s brand identity. Typography was chosen for readability across long-form content.

Layout and hierarchy. Generous white space, a strong grid, and clear headings guide the reader through each section. Key figures are pulled out as callouts so important takeaways are visible at a glance.

Data visualization. I turned charts, and tables into simple, on-brand graphics, so the numbers are easy to understand and the pages stay visually engaging.

Production. I prepared print-ready files with correct bleeds, color settings, and resolution, plus a interactive PDF version for online distribution, working in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

The Result The final report is a polished, cohesive document that presents the hospital’s sustainability efforts clearly and credibly.
