Kubo was born as an idea in 2006 after I created my Maya Book. I was invited to teach and to be part of the creative studio of recognized artists. I decided to prioritize my creations and my teaching, so through the years it evolved in so many shapes!

From 2005 until 2014 I was an art teacher privately, in primary and highschool and in several art shows and workshops were I collaborated with different organizations and projects. Here are a few of those moments:

In 2004 I created this image but I didn't know it will become the branding of many of the projects I did the years after.

2008 KUBO ECONCIENCIA ART EXHIBIT AND WORKSHOPS

I was invited by an art gallery to create an exhibit with all my ready artwork in the Tower of the Clock, the most representative gallery in the Lincoln Park in Polanco, Mexico City business and high end district. I was supported by several organizations, fellow artists and institutions to make it happen. I was sponsored by the Dutch Embassy in Mexico to bring a Dutch animation artist called ieoie to participate in the exhibit and workshops. The exhibit lasted for a month and then evolved into other small shows and public speaking event in the Social Responsibility CLARES congress of Anahuac University and the first Sustainable Congress in Mexico, in Morelia Michoacán in 2009.

During the exhibit we asked the visitors to pick their favorite artwork and take a picture with it as well as to leave their thoughts about it. We were looking for testimony of the effects art has in sharing new ideas of ecological innovation through imagination and technology. We received so much support and love in the comments! The guestbook was the treasure of the whole project.

2009 BENTO BOX AC (NON FOR PROFIT)

With the support of my sister, we created an organization so we could collaborate with institutions and organizations to promote the culture of art and creativity within communities to help clean rivers and forests through activities that exchanged the trash for edible and farming seeds to low income regions.

We chose our name Bento to represent the collaborative structure of our activities, like a BentoBox, a bit of everything good!
BentoBox was also responsible to organize the Mexico City chapter of activities to promote the care and fair use of water resources in 2009's international day of environment, I got to work with great social and environmental activists in Mexico.

2013 KUBO STUDIO IN DOWNTOWN BLACKSBURG, VIRGINIA

After winning the first place in the local art contest, my husband Herb and I wanted to open an art and creativity school as a community project, to support local and group sessions of collaborative arts. Based on Design Thinking we developed a coulpe of workshops and lessons with kids and teenagers, as well as their families. Creating this space was truly so much fun and we had the chance to create the vision of an art studio that could become a third place.

The making of Kubo Studio was one of the most fun times Herb and I shared in this joint venture of creativity in every way. We just want to bring beauty to the world, joy in community and it still stands as our marriage purpose in life, I guess that is what brought us together and will allow us to go through the changes of the world and our society, in hopes we eventually reach that higher level of humanity we hope to foster through the love and passion of creating together for the sake of art.

2013 ARTSBURG COMMUNITY PROJECT

I created the branding and concept of the Artsburg logo as part of my collaboration together with my husband with our Kubo Studio and several organizations fostering creativity and community building through the promotion of artistic activities and festivals.

There were a couple of this events and project during 2013 that Kubo Studio participated in.

2013 COLLABORATION WITH VIRGINIA TECH & BLACKSBURG CHILDREN'S MUSEUM

Mural Idea and family workshops to create a group project for the mural that would be part of the Center of Arts and Technology in the Fall celebrations. A very creative and fun project also as a collaboration of our Kubo Studio, which coordinated and organized the sessions.

The artwork is called: "Fields of Fall"

2013 COLLABORATION WITH COMMUNITY DENTAL CLINIC AND BLACKSBURG REGIONAL ART ASSOCIATION, BRAA & KUBO STUDIO

Mural Idea and collaboration with artists of the BRAA to support the local free clinic with the remodeling and wall creations to help children feel safe in their appointments to the dentist, this room in particular takes care of the younger generations. It also has a collaboration from my husband Herb who was the mastermind of the whole concept, and created the real music and lyrics of the little jingle with the intention to entertain the patients that know how to read musical notes, also to create them as molars cleaned by the toothpaste.
