Project Summary
ChargeIndia is a comprehensive EV charging aggregation platform designed to simplify how electric vehicle owners discover, access, and manage charging services across multiple charging networks. Instead of relying on separate apps for different charging providers, users can find nearby stations, check real-time availability, reserve chargers, start charging sessions, make payments, and track charging history from a single unified experience. The product aims to reduce range anxiety, improve charging accessibility, and support the growing EV ecosystem in India.
User Onboarding The onboarding experience was designed to educate new users about the platform while collecting essential information required for a personalized charging experience.
Users are introduced to key benefits such as charger discovery, live availability, route planning, and seamless payments. The flow also guides users through enabling location access, setting charging preferences, and adding their first vehicle to ensure relevant charging recommendations from the very first session.
Authentication & Account Setup The authentication experience focuses on simplicity and security. Users can create an account using their mobile number, email address, or social login options. OTP verification ensures quick and secure access while minimizing onboarding friction. Additional flows such as password recovery, account verification, and profile completion help users manage their accounts with ease and confidence.
Home Experience The home screen serves as the primary command center for EV owners. It provides quick access to nearby charging stations, recent charging activity, vehicle battery status, saved locations, and personalized charging recommendations. The experience is designed to surface the most relevant information based on user behavior, location, and vehicle type, enabling users to take immediate action without navigating through multiple screens.
Vehicle Management Vehicle management allows users to create and maintain profiles for one or multiple electric vehicles. Users can add details such as vehicle model, battery capacity, charging connector type, and charging preferences. The feature ensures charger compatibility by displaying only relevant charging stations and provides a more personalized charging experience tailored to each vehicle's specifications.
Search & Filtering Experience Finding the right charger is one of the most critical aspects of the charging journey. The search experience enables users to discover charging stations through maps and list views while applying advanced filters such as charging speed, connector type, network provider, availability status, pricing, and distance. The goal is to help users quickly identify the most suitable charging option based on their immediate needs.
Charger Discovery & Station Details The charger discovery experience provides comprehensive information about each charging station before users commit to a visit. Station details include charger availability, charging speeds, supported connector types, pricing structures, operating hours, amenities, user ratings, and navigation support.
This transparency helps users make informed charging decisions while minimizing uncertainty during travel.
Profile & Settings
The settings experience gives users complete control over their account preferences and application behavior. Users can manage personal information, saved payment methods, vehicle preferences, notification settings, language options, privacy controls, and support requests. The objective is to create a flexible experience that adapts to individual user needs and preferences.
Empty States Thoughtfully designed empty states help guide users when no content is available. Whether users have not added a vehicle, completed a charging session, created a reservation, or found nearby chargers, the empty state experience provides clear explanations and actionable next steps that encourage engagement and reduce confusion.
Loading States & System Feedback Loading states and skeleton screens were introduced to improve perceived performance and provide visual feedback during data retrieval. These experiences help users understand that information is actively loading, reducing frustration and maintaining confidence in the platform's responsiveness.
Design System
A scalable design system was developed to ensure consistency across the entire product ecosystem. The system includes standardized typography, color tokens, iconography, buttons, forms, cards, navigation patterns, charging status indicators, and reusable components. This foundation enabled faster design iterations, improved usability, and streamlined collaboration between design and engineering teams. Outcome
ChargeIndia successfully transforms a fragmented EV charging ecosystem into a unified, user-centric platform. By simplifying charger discovery, enabling seamless charging experiences, and providing reliable charging information, the platform helps users confidently adopt electric mobility while supporting the long-term growth of EV infrastructure across India.
