MCP//GT: Streamlining MCP Server Deployment

MCP//GT approached me to design their innovative tool that transforms OpenAPI schemas or URLs into hosted MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers. Building on our previous relationship, they trusted me to lead the design for this novel attempt at simplifying a complex technical process. Their vision was ambitious yet focused: create an MVP that could quickly test the market for a tool that enables rapid MCP server deployment.
The challenge was unique—this wasn't solving an existing problem but rather creating a solution for an emerging need in the AI development space. MCP//GT identified an opportunity to build a tool they themselves wanted to use, recognizing that other engineers and AI-literate professionals would share this need.
The target audience—engineers and tech-literate AI users—values efficiency, clarity, and reliable tools that integrate seamlessly into their workflows. The business objective was clear: create a subscription-based service that removes friction from MCP server deployment, ultimately generating recurring revenue through solving a real developer pain point.

My Role & Responsibilities

As the lead designer, I owned the complete design strategy and execution: research and competitive analysis, brand identity development (logo, color palette, visual elements), design system creation, UX design for 10 key screens, and collaborative leadership with the founding team through regular check-ins and strategy sessions.

Process & Methodology

I began by analyzing the MCP ecosystem and existing tools like mcp.so and mcpservers.com, revealing an opportunity for a more streamlined approach. Working closely with the founder, I designed a simple stepped workflow: email + OpenAPI schema input → tool selection → basic configuration → live MCP server deployment, targeting completion in under two minutes.
The design approach balanced minimal, technical aesthetics with approachable simplicity. The primary challenge was explaining complex technical concepts through clear visual hierarchy and intuitive interactions that guide users without overwhelming them.

Deliverables & Results

Key Outputs: 10 essential screens (landing page, login, schema input, tool selection, configuration, deployment, dashboard, loading states), comprehensive design system with reusable components, clickable prototypes, and complete brand identity.
Current Status: In active development with designs serving as the foundation for technical implementation.

Key Takeaways

The most significant challenge was distilling a complex technical process into a sub-two-minute workflow. Constant iteration and regular check-ins proved invaluable for maintaining alignment between design decisions and technical feasibility. This project reinforced that technical users value clarity and efficiency over visual decoration—interfaces that respect their expertise while helping them accomplish goals quickly.
