Ghostwriting Sample: Cosmetics 101 — Sunscreens
Sunscreens are not a modern invention.
Ancient Egyptians used rice bran extract, jasmine, and lupine to prevent skin darkening. In India, sandalwood paste, turmeric, and sesame oil have been part of skincare traditions for thousands of years. Chinese practices relied on rice and herbal pastes, while Native American communities used extracts from Tsuga canadensis (pine) to soothe sunburns. Greek athletes applied olive oil combined with fine sand as a form of sun protection.
Contemporary sunscreens work by absorbing, reflecting, or scattering UV radiation—creating a protective barrier before skin damage occurs.
