Barry's X - Live Streaming Fitness Platform

Barry's X is Barry’s newest online platform for fitness exercises. With a membership, you get access to high quality live and on-demand classes. You can also invite your friends to classes, follow people that inspire you, and see other users statistics.

On Barry’s X, I was responsible for designing and building the API to support 5 internal clients - a web application, iOS, Apple Watch, and Android apps, and an internal admin tool. The API was written in Node.js (Nest.js) and GraphQL. We’ve integrated with multiple third-party services to support features like video streaming (Twilio), music licensing, In-App purchases, real-time chat, and more.

I was also responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform. Everything was fully automated using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and running on container-based platforms (Kubernetes).

Another key responsibility during my time working on Barry’s X was leading a team of 3 backend engineers. I was the interface between the backend and other stakeholders of the project, such as the client and other engineer teams.

Working on Barry’s X was a great challenge and I’m really proud of the work I’ve done!
