Overengineering Everyday Products.
This project started out with the idea of making an everyday product last you every day you have. We took the time to think about items used throughout history, something still being used today; we came up with the water carrier. Even though our modern way of hydration is slightly different than it was thousands of years ago, not much has changed. We figured the water carrier was a good place to start.
The water carrier project was sketched out on paper a quite a few times before making it's way on to a 3D modeling software. We used Fusion 360 to model and render the final image of the water carrier. We then explored different materials that are safe to drink from. We landed on a lineup of six different types of metals safe to drink water from (no acidic drinks). Those materials are:
Aluminum
Stainless Steel
Brass
Copper
Bronze
Titanium
Each one of the materials are machined from a solid 5.0" round bar of material and polished to a mirror finish. The screw valve is another separate piece that has been machined out of a solid 3.5" round bar of material. This bottle holds 50oz of water.
