What is Broker Payment Center (BPC)? BPC is the payment page within Oscar’s broker portal, where brokers can submit payments on behalf of their clients. Brokers help enroll members into Oscar plans.

Problem: Before redesigning the payment experience, the payment flow we offered had low discoverability within the portal and didn’t offer basic expected features. We required brokers to manually enter in member information, which led to a large amount of user error (so much so that over 30% of all payment submissions needed to be manually reconciled by our Operations team).

Solution: A post-enrollment payment page with pre-populated member information and the ability to set up AutoPay. Due to a prominent entry point within the broker’s book of business, the page is now easily discoverable and frequently used by brokers. As of August 2021, BPC processed ~113K payments, totaling around $9 million in monthly premiums paid.
