Design Discipline – Podcast Editing and Production

Client: Design Discipline Podcast

Objective: Handle all aspects of podcast editing and production, allowing the client to focus on creating great content and growing the podcast.

The designer behind the "Design Discipline" podcast needed someone to take care of the entire editing process so he could focus on recording and bringing in bigger guests. The goal was to create a smooth workflow where he could just hit record and leave the rest to me.

The client didn’t just need an editor; he needed someone to manage everything from downloading the raw footage to delivering a fully polished podcast video. This included making sure the sound quality was top-notch, adding an animated intro, and integrating motion graphics to keep the visuals interesting. On top of that, we wanted to create additional content like shorts and include affiliate links for extra revenue.

I stepped in to handle the whole process. After downloading the footage from Riverside, I organized everything into folders. We used Davinci Resolve’s cloud sharing, which made it super easy for the client to review the edits, leave notes, and highlight sections for potential shorts.

I focused on making sure the audio was clear and crisp, added an animated intro, and included motion graphics to make the video visually appealing. I also put together a list of products mentioned in the podcast so we could include affiliate links in the video description, creating an extra income stream.

Once the final edit was approved, I created three shorts from the content and uploaded everything to the platforms the client specified. This setup allowed the client to concentrate on recording and growing the podcast, while I took care of all the production details.

Results

This workflow really paid off—the client saved a ton of time and was able to focus on other parts of the business, like bringing in more high-profile guests. The end result was a professional podcast with great visuals and sound, plus extra content in the form of shorts and affiliate links.
