Mobilum, a leading provider of cryptocurrency payment solutions, sought to expand its service offerings by launching a comprehensive wallet application designed for mobile users. This application aimed to simplify and enhance the user experience for managing and exchanging various cryptocurrencies and tracking expenses and investments. Mobilum was launched in 2021 to increase the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency. As a financial institution licensed in multiple jurisdictions, we enable our partners to offer various payment rails to connect digital assets and the Web3 economy.
Goals
The primary objectives of the UX design project were to:
Create a seamless, intuitive user experience for cryptocurrency transactions.
Develop an easy-to-navigate dashboard for monitoring cryptocurrency portfolios.
Enhance the security features without compromising the user experience
Integrate a real-time cryptocurrency market analysis tool
Design a scalable UI that could incorporate additional cryptocurrencies and features over time
Process
Research
The initial phase involved extensive research, including market analysis, user interviews, and competition study. By identifying the pain points and preferences of existing and potential users, we were able to tailor the design to meet their needs.
User Personas
We created detailed user personas representing Mobilum's diverse user base, which included casual investors, day traders, and fintech enthusiasts. These personas guided the design decisions throughout the project.
Information Architecture
With a clear understanding of the user needs, we structured the information architecture to ensure users could easily find and use features. This involved organizing the wallet's features into logical, easily navigable sections.
Wireframes and Prototyping
We developed low-fidelity wireframes for the dashboard and iteratively improved them based on feedback from stakeholder meetings. Once the wireframes were refined, we built a high-fidelity interactive prototype closely resembling the final product.
User Testing
User testing sessions were conducted with a group of beta users representing our personas. We gathered data on their interactions and noted any usability issues, which were then addressed in the design.
UI Design
The UI design phase focused on visual elements, interactive animations, and transitions to ensure an engaging and responsive experience. We opted for a clean, minimalist design with a color palette that reflected Mobilum's brand identity.
Implementation and Iteration
Working closely with Mobilum's developers, we ensured the design was implemented as intended. Post-launch analytics and user feedback led to continuous iterations to refine the user experience.
Results
The redesigned Mobilum Wallet app was well-received by users, with positive feedback highlighting the intuitive interface and the smooth transaction process. Specific achievements included:
A 30% increase in user retention.
A 50% reduction in customer support queries related to navigation and usage.
Positive user feedback, with an average app rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars post-redesign.
A scalable design that seamlessly integrated two new cryptocurrencies within the first three months post-launch.
Conclusion
The Mobilum Wallet app project was a resounding success, showcasing the power of user-centered design in the fintech industry. By focusing on the users' needs and iterating based on direct feedback, we delivered a product that met Mobilum's business goals and significantly enhanced the user experience for their customers.
