Cabin in the Woods

Gabrielle Maxwell

This poem is about wanting to disappear from society as a whole.

Cabin in the Woods

A cabin is all I want.
Built in the woods, deep where nature grows.
I want to be alone.
Forgotten just like I’m meant to be.
A small young woman in the forest,
Not disturbed by society.
But I also want someone close to me.
Someone that won’t forget me.
Someone that will love me for my broken self forever.
Just me and my boo
In our cabin in the woods.
You could say I just want to run away from it all.
Run away from the pressures of society that claims to want acceptance
But yet is still so judgemental of everyone different.
Run away from the pressure to be anyone but myself.
Maybe then I won’t have to wear a mask to play this game called life.
A cabin is all I want.
Built in the woods, deep where nature grows.
I want to be alone.
Forgotten just like I’m meant to be.
A small young woman in the forest,
Not disturbed by society.
