About Project: A telemedicine App that connects Patients and Doctors in both Rural and Urban Areas in an African Country - Nigeria.

Problem (Nigeria’s Healthcare Challenges)

Nigeria faces a deep healthcare crisis:
Only ~35,000 doctors serve over 200M people (1:5,700 ratio).
70% of the population lives in rural or underserved areas with poor access.
$1.2B+ is spent annually out-of-pocket on inefficient healthcare.
Clinics are overcrowded, under-resourced, and wait times are long.

Research & Insights

Personas:

Zati (35, rural mother) β†’ needs affordable maternal/child healthcare.
Musa (67, pensioner) β†’ chronic care without leaving home.
John (22, student) β†’ late-night discreet consultations.

Insights gathered:

Users prefer mobile-first solutions.
Trust is a major barrier (doctor verification critical).
Pricing must be transparent and locally contextualized.

Solution

HealR is an AI-powered telemedicine platform that connects Nigerians with licensed doctors via their phones.

Key design decisions:

Mobile-first UI β†’ optimized for low bandwidth.
AI Triage Assistant β†’ quick, conversational symptom checking.
Doctor verification badges β†’ building trust with patients.
Transparent pricing β†’ local currency displayed clearly.
In-app wallet & payments β†’ easy subscriptions, instant payouts for doctors.

Design System & Visual Identity

Colors: Blue - for healthcare trust + modern neutrals.
Typography: Poppins - Simple, legible for small screens.
Icons: Clear, minimal, easy to recognize even at low resolution.
Accessibility: Large tap areas, high contrast, scalable font sizes.

Process

Wireframing & Flows: Designed core flows for sign-up, booking consults, and AI triage.
Prototyping: Built interactive prototypes in Figma to test real-world usability.
User Testing: Conducted quick tests with university students & freelancers. Iterated based on feedback (simplified triage questions, faster access to β€œTalk to a Doctor”).
