01 — The Challenge

Creating a portfolio that feels as personal as the work itself.

Mariana is a graphic designer and art director based in Portland, Oregon, and the founder of Heart On Studio. Her work is built around creativity, connection, and a human approach to design.
The challenge was to create a portfolio that went beyond simply displaying projects. The website needed to communicate who Mariana is, how she thinks, and the values behind her work.
The experience needed to:
Introduce Mariana’s personality from the first interaction
Showcase her projects with clarity
Reflect her thoughtful and authentic approach to design
Create a digital presence that feels personal rather than generic
The goal was to build a space where the designer behind the work was just as visible as the projects themselves.

02 — Digital Strategy

Designing around personality, not complexity.

For personal portfolios, the website itself becomes part of the designer’s identity.
The strategy was based on creating a simple but meaningful experience:
Connect Introduce Mariana through a clear and personal statement that immediately communicates her role and perspective.
Explore Allow visitors to discover her work through a curated project showcase with minimal distractions.
Understand Extend the story through an About page that communicates her philosophy, experience, and approach.
Every decision focused on creating a digital experience that feels intentional, human, and aligned with Mariana’s creative voice.

03 — Visual Direction

Letting simplicity create impact.

The design approach was built around restraint.
Instead of relying on complex layouts or unnecessary interactions, the website uses:
Strong typography
Generous spacing
Clear hierarchy
Minimal navigation
Focused project presentation
The result is an experience where the design creates room for Mariana’s work to speak for itself.

04 — Website Experience

A portfolio designed around storytelling.

The homepage was structured around a simple but powerful introduction:
“Hey! Mariana is a graphic designer and art director working across brands, identities, and visual systems.”
This statement immediately establishes context before visitors explore the work.
The project showcase follows naturally, allowing users to discover Mariana’s projects without friction.
A dedicated About page expands the story behind Heart On Studio, connecting her values, experience, and creative philosophy with the overall digital experience.

05 — Framer Development

Building a lightweight and scalable experience.

The website was designed and developed entirely in Framer, focusing on creating a polished experience while maintaining simplicity.
Key considerations included:
Responsive layouts
Clean component structure
Smooth interactions
Easy content updates
Performance optimization
The goal was to create a digital foundation that Mariana could continue using as her portfolio evolves.

06 — Final Outcome

A digital presence that feels authentic to Mariana’s creative practice.

The final website transforms Mariana’s portfolio into more than a collection of projects — it becomes an extension of her identity and design philosophy.
Through intentional structure, minimal design, and thoughtful storytelling, the experience creates a calm and memorable environment where her work, personality, and values come together.
The result is a portfolio that feels human, timeless, and true to the way Mariana approaches design.
