Objective

The objective is to be able to sum up what the books are really about based on the themes and conflicts in order to design three different book covers.

About the project

The project would help me discover and develop my own style while designing the covers of three different books.

Process + Challenge

I started by making a word cloud for each book for which I’d like to design. Then, I drew 3-5 sketches to get a feeling of the various ways I can portray the idea, so the viewer can look at my cover and get a sense of the concept. I used shapes and textures as design vintage elements to allow me convey my main concept. The challenge for me was to come up with ideas that are very limited based on the theme I chose, and my sketches should not be excessively generic.

Outcome

As a result, I had to widen my concepts and designs while keeping the design cover very simple and elegant. The three book covers truly represent the theme itself and it catches the viewer’s eyes.
